Vacant, Not Blighted. Heritage Matters in Detroit

Check out this great video from the Michigan Historic Preservation Network. What a heartfelt plea to Detroit to think hard about their history.  I particularly liked the man who talked about restoring a porch in 25 degrees temperatures and knowing his work would be around for another 100 years. Here's the link. http://vimeo.com/96926735

  1. Jill, thanks for posting this video. Detroit is north of us, the interstate drive takes about 15 minutes. When I first arrived here my husband showed me the "grand old ladies" of Grand Avenue and I was shocked that so much beauty could be so damaged. It's taken the city all these years to save itself, and there is so much to rehabilitate. I particularly love the old depot and wish it could be restored to it's 1914 glory. This 300 year old city is worth a rebirth!
